Congratulations to Rachel Quam who has committed to Cal State San Marcos. Rachel will be on the inaugural San Marcos team as they start a NEW volleyball program in 2011. Rachel tore her ACL in the spring of 2010 and joining San Marcos will give her the year to rehab and prepare for her first collegiate season.

She is excited to get started with school this fall and is already working with Coach Sarah Gustin to get on track for next season. Rachel is a very dynamic OH who can do everything on the court. She has played for Viper her whole club career and it has been wonderful to see her grow and mature as both a player and person. Congrats Rachel!

In Rachel's words...

San Marcos is going to be a really great fit for me.  It is close to the beach and has a completely different feel than the Inland Empire.  It is also close enough to where I can come home on the weekend and be there in about an hour.  There is also the possibility of playing volleyball in my sophomore year.  I am so excited to be a part of the beginning program at CSUSM.

2.  Rehab is a long and tedious process.  My knee is progressing slowly and to top it off I have absolutely no endurance left.  I have to rehab my knee and build up my body at the same time.  It is frustrating when you can't ride the bike for ten minutes with resistance without "dying."  However, I keep making progress and I can tell my knee is getting stronger all the time.  I am also learning how my body works and how to take care of it.

3.  College is going to be very different from high school.  I will be living on campus and my roommates are all so nice.  I can't wait to be on my own away from all of the drama of high school.  I can't wait to meet new people and experience new things.  Oh, and volleyball is going to be super exciting what with the new program and playing at a high level.  I am very excited.

4.  Volleyball in college is going to be really hard, especially in the conference that we will be entering into.  The competition is going to be fierce.  Playing at the level in college will be similar to playing at Viper because throughout my club years I have played at really high levels.  I have also been taught the skills I need to be competitive, and I have learned what it means to be a good teammate.

Dana Backlund commits to the University of Florida

Dana in her Gator gear at age 2!

Congratulations to Dana for receiving a full-ride scholarship to the University of Florida. Dana and her family have been Gator fans for a long time (Dad, Andy, was also a Gator) and this is a great fit for her as a collegiate student athlete. Dana was very highly recruited since she was a freshman and commited July 24th, 2010 (before her Junior year).

Dana is most excited to play at a high level in college and to continue growing as an athlete, volleyball player and person. The University of Florida has made it to the Top 16 the last three years and to the Elite 8 and Final Four numerous times.

Dana started with Viper in a clinic class at age 9. She showed a great competitive spirit even at that young age. By the time she was eleven she had become Ed Morel's unofficial "pepper partner" and would play until his arm fell off. Her passion for the game continues today with her give everything attitude at practice.

Dana played on our 12-1's and then played on our 14-2's for Merilee as a 13 year old, a team which ended up finishing 6th at the Volleyball Festival. Dana has been the starting setter for Viper's 16-1s for three years, and this year led the team to Junior Nationals. All of us at Viper say "Congratulations!"

Up next: Dana will set for the Varsity at Murrieta Valley High School this coming season.

Dana and the Backlund family at Gator Stadium... it's a family affair!

Usc14s_small

Welcome to Temecula Volleyball Club! We offer girls and boys developmental volleyball programs year round. From simple once a week Clinic Classes to Elite Teams that travel and practice upwards of 3 times a week, plus strength and conditioning, we have something for every interest level. We are also the only club in Temecula to offer Boys Volleyball.

Are you interested in Temecula Volleyball Club? If so, it doesn't matter whether you are NEW to the area, our club, or to volleyball, please give Dana Burkholder a call to learn more about our program, philosophy and upcoming season. We look forward to meeting you and your family! 951-795-3466

Plastic, Plastic, Plastic!

Volleyball players drink a LOT of water! Nowadays that water comes to the gym in plastic bottles instead of water jugs. We encourage you to take HOME all your plastic bottles to ensure they get recycled. Do not leave them at Rancho unless a recycling team collects them from you at practice.

You could also consider buying an "old-fashioned" re-usable water bottle or jug to bring to practice too!

Let's all MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Viper's Lost and Found is in the ball storage area.  Please ask your coach to help you look in the lost and found after your practice. If you find something, please give it to your coach to put in the lost & found. Lots of things go missing so let's work together to keep things from getting lost!

ALSO: Please check at the end of your practice to make sure you have everything you came with - sweats, bags, phones, etc.
