The 2013-2014 club season is underway for most of our teams and we look forward to having all of our teams in the gym starting in December!
The local High Schools are starting playoffs this week and we would like to wish all our Inland Valley teams good luck!
The "Viper Kick-Off Games" will be on Saturday, December 14th, 2013! All of Viper's teams will participate in the tournament to kick-off the new season!
Each team will play several matches and then our coaches will play in an exhibition match! This event is for the whole family and is a big Viper "Open House" that brings our club and families together!
In the spirit of the Hunger Games, our theme for this year is "Princess Warriors"! All of the teams will come up with their own idea for a costume and dress up together for the GAMES. Please note that you have to PLAY in your costume!
Also in the spirit of coming together, each team will create a "pre-game type cheer" to perform for everyone. The cheer is meant to inpspire the team and our club to play with strength, courage and togetherness!

We would like to congratulate one of our top players, Jessica Gaffney, on her achievements this past year. Jessica is a senior at Great Oak High School and a starting middle blocker on the varsity team. Jessica started playing for Viper as a freshman and immediately jumped to the Elite level. Over the past four years she has worked tirelessly to become a top player, and all her efforts are paying off. Jessica committed to the University of San Francisco on a full ride scholarship in January 2013 and is excited to join their team in the fall of 2014 after her senior year.
In addition to improving her indoor game, Jessica took up sand volleyball with tenacity and determination this past summer. In June of 2013, she made the USA High Performance A1 team and has been training and competing all summer. Here is a summary of her experience in her own words:
"I started beach this year because my college has a beach team so I will be playing both when I go there. I did CVBA tournaments then decided to try out for the national team through high performance USA volleyball. I made the A1 program which is the national training team. I got free training through the Olympic program and practice with the elite 8 (traveling national team) and A1 girls twice a week in Hermosa. After starting beach, I quickly learned to love it and have learned so much through the high level coaches and players I have been training with. I plan on staying involved with high performance to try and earn a spot on the national team to represent our country in u19 division next year."
Jessica has proven herself this summer to be a tough competetor on the sand. She finished 3rd at a USA beach event, earned her AA and was invited to play in a professional tournament.
Congratulations Jessica and keep it up. We are proud of you!
