About
Coach Neemias or “Costa” was a full scholarship student-athlete at San Diego State and Cal Baptist University. Originally from Brazil, he spent two years on the Brazilian National Team as a libero. He also played professionally for two years at the Boa Viagem Volei Clube in Brazil. He’s spent four years as an AAA Beach Volleyball athlete (CBVA).
As the Director of CORE for Viper Volleyball, Costa creates elite training programs for our Elite athletes to complement their volleyball training with strength and conditioning. Costa has experience in many of today’s latest training modalities and is always current in what is best for athletes to do in order to get to the next level physically.
Costa is also a certified personal trainer. He holds several certifications by NASM, TRX Level 1 Suspension Training Course, TRX Level 1 Group Suspension Training Course, RipTrainer Group Training and others.
Outside of volleyball, he enjoys jiu jitsu, surfing, playing beach volleyball, CrossFit and spending time with his wife, Jodie, and their two kids, Tiago-5 and Mia-1.
As a Coach, Costa is in his fourth year at Viper. In 2014, he was head coach for the 17-1’s finishing 4th at the National’s Qualifier. In 2013, he head coached the 16-1’s Elite Team. In 2012, he was the head coach for the 16-2 Elite team taking that team all the way to Division 2 in the SCVA season. He also assisted coaching the 18-1’s Elite team. In 2011, he was the assistant coach for the 17-1’s, 16-1’s and 14-1’s Elite teams.
