About

Played primarily beach growing up at Moonlight beach, Encinitas.  Played indoor volleyball starting at age 17 for Fred Featherstone at Seaside volleyball.  Attended Palomar Junior College and then Holy Names University in Oakland on a full scholarship. NAIA 1st team all conference 2005, 2006.

Professional indoor volleyball for Asse-Lennik in Brussels, Belgium  2007 Outside hitter.

Starting playing professional beach tournaments in 2008.  Played professional beach from 2009-present.  Best professional tour  2nd in Siesta Key, FL.

Only 16 seed in history to beat the 1 seed. Rafu (fellow Viper coach) beat the number 1 ranked USA team and Olympic qualifying team of Jake Gibb and Casey Patterson.  (finished 5th)

Experience as a coach

Started coaching youth volleyball for supplemental income.  Coached at Encinitas Wave from 2008-2014.

Constantly pursuing higher learning in the coaching realm. Attended many seminars, coach’s clinics, and AVCA coaching conventions.  Bought into coaching being a passionate career.

Helped good friend and former beach volleyball player Matt Olson grow ISPE beach program at WAVE from 60 to over 120+ beach volleyball athletes.

Transferred to Viper Volleyball after taking a year away from coaching.   Been a very successful coach in the Temecula Valley for the past 2 years.  2nd SCVA ranking in 2016.  Took over as the Director of Viper Volleyball in 2017.

Family life:

Lived in many places but set down roots in Temecula, CA with wife Allison McColloch (also Viper coach).  Ali gave birth to their daughter “Scout Sequoia McColloch” on October 2nd 2017.   On the free weekends the McColloch crew usually heads to Encinitas to enjoy Moonlight beach and hang out with extended family.

Fun fact:

Kevin worked as an Intern at a financial institution for professional athletes for about a year in SF.  True Capital Finance had over 175 professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA.  Kevin had an opportunity to work very closely with some world class athletes.
