The Clearing House determines if a player has taken all the requisite classes to be eligible to compete in college. They have to be cleared by the Clearing House to be eligible to play in college. In order to be done with the Clearing House process they will need to send in final transcripts and test scores in order to be cleared. That should happen right after they graduate. Again, the Clearing House is for eligibility and the avenue for which the NCAA makes sure that players are amateurs.
At what age/year in school should a volleyball player sign up with the Clearing House? They should register for the Clearing House as soon as they want (sophomore or junior year is a good time depending on the level of the academic qualifications for the University).
When do Colleges actually look at the Clearing House?
Not until they are scheduled to come on an official visit. That is really the first time that schools will check it.
The NCAA is the governing body for Division 1-3 Athletics. If you want to get a college scholarship you need to understand at least the basics of being eligible and the recruiting rules that the colleges have to follow.
The Clearinghouse serves three main constituent groups: prospective student-athletes, high school administrators, and NCAA member institutions.
