Wow! I appolofize for not posting on here in so long (being a college student athlete and coaching takes up ALL my time)!
So here's a wrap up of the outcomes of the tournaments:
2/6/2010- Qualifier #2:
Epic 16- Laurel~ Loss 25-20, 25-11
Lake Matthews~ Loss 25-13, 25-15
SDVBC~ Loss 25-7, 25-10
Tough tournament for us. I think we were learning to cope with the two new teammates added as well as cope with the loss of another. But, still even with all that set aside, the things that the girls were learning showed through in their playing.
2/20/2010- Qualifier #3:
I do not have the exact totals on these games, but we ended up losing all of our matches.
Starlings~ Loss in two games
Coast~ Loss in three games
Desert Sport~ Loss in three games
The girls had another tough day, but the individual practices, and extra time the girls spent at the positional training on their own payed off in their play! The only thing left to work on after that was TEAM BONDING (the toughest thing to teach)!
3/6/2010- Mandatory #1:
This was an odd day for us because of the fact that one of the teams did not show up to play! So we payed each team three times, regardless of the first two games' outcome.
Santa Monica VBC~ Loss 25-14, 25-19, 23-25 (WIN)
Dunamis~ Loss 25-23, 25-23, 25-22
I think that at this tournament, I saw the MOST improvement from the girls in the whole season. They were working better as a team and executed skills that we had been teaching throughout the season. They did a wonderful job of staying positive and playing for eachother rather then for themselves. Our blocking looked PHENOMENAL and our defense and hitting did really well. Now, if only we could finish the games!!! I joked to some of you parents that if the game ended at 22, WE WOULD WIN EVERY SINGLE GAME!! But sadly it's 25 and we are going to work hard these next two weeks to become a better finishing team!
Otherwise, I am so proud of these girls and watching them play is so exciting and fun to watch! I can't wait to see the new improvements when the next tournament rolls around!!
I have let the girls know, and please write this down in your calendars:
There is NO practice this week (3/8-3/10). The practices will be moved to the week of 3/29-4/4 (Easter Week). I'll have more specific dates soon!
THANKS!! See you and the girls soon!
